The humble Petition of Abraham and Jacob Franco, the Widow Portello de Quiras, Michael Pacheco da Silva, Jacob Abenetar Pimentel, and Joseph and David Franco his Majesty's subjects.
Most humbly Sheweth
That your Petitioners having consigned severall Effects to Salomé Namias of Salee Merchant, he sold them for accompts of your Petitioners, and was to make them the returns as soon as he should have received the moneys from the buyers thereof. But it so happen'd that the said Salomé Namias, who was sometime Interpreter to the British Vice Consul, was burnt alive by order of the Emperour of Morocco, and all his Estate, Effects and outstanding debts were confiscated for the use of the Emperour, amongst which is the summe of 3500 L sterling which is the property of your Petitioners as being the proceed of their Goods sold by the said Salomé Namias, as they can make appear by proper proofs and Vouchers
Therefore as there is now no British Consul there your Petitioners most humbly pray your Grace would be pleased in case anyone is sent, that he may be order'd to take care of their Just Rights, and cause the moneys due to your Petitioners, to be delivered to their Correspondants in Salee, in order to be distributed among them in proportion to their respective dues. And Your Petitioners as in duty bound shall ever pray & c. & c. &

אלמנתו של הסוחר פורטלו דה־קיראס ועוד שישה סוחרים פונים לשר־החוץ של בריטניה, הדוכס מניוקסל, בבקשה דלהלן: שלחנו סחורה לשלום נחמיאש מסלא, והוא מכר אותה ואמור היה לשלם לאחר שיקבל כסף מהקונים. ואולם שלום נחמיאש, שהיה בעבר תורגמן לסגן־הקונסול הבריטי, נשרף בעודו חי בפקודת הסולטאן של מרוקו, וכל רכושו (שטרי) חובותיו הוחרמו לקופת הסולטאן, בהם 3,500 לי״ש שחייב לנו שלום נחמיאש בעבור סחורותינו שמכר.
ניתן להוכיח זאת באמצעות תעודות מתאימות. מכיוון שאין עתה קונסול בריטי בסלא, אנו מבקשים כי כאשר יישלח מישהו לתפקיד זה, הוא יקבל הוראה לדאוג לזכויותינו, ושהכסף יישלח לנציגינו בסלא כדי לחלקו בין הזכאים.
