Monsieur le Rabbin Obadia a récemment immigré en Israël où il a décidé d'ouvrir une Yechiva pour étudiants d'origine marocaine. J'ai eu le plaisir et le privilège de collaborer avec le Rabbin Obadia dans le domaine de l'éducation juive au Cours de ces 12 dernières années.
Ceux qui connaissent la vie juive au Maroc seront certainement de mon avis que Monsieur Obadia est un des Rabbins les plus doués de l'Afrique du Nord. Il a toujours considéré sa tâche au-delà de celle des fonctions officielles, d'un Rabbin., marocain. Il a organisé des écoles générales et professionnelles pour filles à Sefrou à une époque où l'éducation religieuse des filles était négligée au Maroc. Il a organisé et dirigé l'école primaire Em Habânim, qui fut la meilleure en son genre au Maroc. Il a organisé une Yechiva qu’il a pu maintenir grâce à ses propres efforts. Il est bien connu au Maroc et en dehors du pays pour la profondeur de ses pensées, son dynamisme et ses talents d'organisatqur, sans oublier son érudition en matière juive.
Je n'ai aucun doute que le Rabbin Obadia peut apporter une contribution très importante à la vie juive en Israël, surtout parmi la jeunesse sépharade négligée. Son expérience et ses talents lui permettront sans aucun doute à diriger le judaïsme sépharade en Israël. Ses efforts pour l'avancement de l'éducation juive méritent tout le soutien possible. Un investissement dans l'éducation juive par le .Rabbin Obadia ne manquera pas de produire des résultats permanents pour le bien du peuple juif tout entier.

Ra'b'bi David Obadia, Grand Rabbi of Sefrou, has recently settled in Israel and decided to open a Yeshiva for students from Morocco. I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with Rabbi Obadia in the field of Jewish education during the last 12 years.
Those who know Jewish life in Morocco will probably agree with me that he is one of the most able Rabbis from North Africa. He has always seen his task as much larger than the official functions of a Moroccan Rabbi. He started girls general and vocational schools in Sefrou at a time .when the religious education of girls was neglected in Morocco. He. organized and directed the Em Habanim elementary school which was the best of its kind in Morocco. He set up a Yeshiva which he maintained practically with his own efforts. He’is known in Morocco and outside for his visiton, his depth of thought, his dynamism and organizing abilities, not to mention his Jewish scholarship.
There is no doubt in my mind that Rabbi Obadia cdn make a very important contribution to Jewish life in Israel, especially on behalf of neglected Sephardi youth. His-background and his ability will undoubtedly make him a leader of Sephardi Judaism in Israel. His efforts on behalf of Jewish education deserve fullhearted support. Any investment made through Rabbi Obadia in Jewish education will certainly bear permanent beneficial results for the Jewish people as a whole.
